Personal Training

Do you want to feel good about your body?

Meet Personal Trainer Dean Schaffer

If you’re looking for a personal trainer that promises a fast route to dropping weight by banning carbohydrates and exercising until the point of exhaustion, then I’m not your guy! Why? Because to me, fitness is a lifestyle, not a fad and I’m trained to look at the long game, not just the short term gain.

Heavily into martial arts – I’m a black belt in Kung-Fu and weight training since a teenager; I’ve always been passionate about fitness. For me, it’s a big part of my life and as founder of The Fitness Club I want to make it a part of your life too.

Big on communication and trust, my friendly but focused training gets anyone hooked. There’s a lot of copycatting in fitness, but I’m a trainer who’s a little bit different. For one, I listen and secondly, I care. I adapt my techniques to create programs around my clients’ needs according to their abilities and goals.

Working both anaerobically (short and fast exercise) and aerobically, I use core, resistance and circuit training to improve and empower their life through exercise. I like seeing my clients happy, and the right program will undoubtedly raise confidence levels, making you look and feel good. My personal mantra is ‘health is wealth’, and I like to think of myself as the backbone that keeps my clients standing up straight and looking to the future.

Working with all ages from 18 to 83, I’m consistently challenging my clients – whether they’re overweight, stressed city suits or post natal mums, and pushing them towards their next goal. I’m always thinking of new ways they can progress. I understand bad days and whatever problem my client has, I have a solution. Ultimately, my personal training sessions are about you, not me. I get enjoyment from seeing results – and that makes me thrive.

What our clients say about us View All

  • When I started training with Dean I was totally out of shape and I was overweight. I was not walking properly and I couldn't do a single push-up. After training for three months I have lost 8Kg and my body fat has gone down from 18% to 15%. My metabolic age is 15 years less than my physical age. Now I can do 300 push-ups No problem Each training session is different and more challenging than the last one. You can feel you improve from week to week. What I liked the most is that training is really carefully tailored for my needs and goals, and even if it is hard work (as it should be!) it is feasible and effective. Nutrition is also very important and if you follow Dean's advice (not crazy or impossible diets but straight to the point adjustments to your Life style) results are guaranteed. No stone is left unturned to help you achieve your goals. Juan A. Rufes (Age 45)

  • I used to have a love-hate relationship with gyms. I knew I should go, I enjoyed the feeling of being fitter and more active, but my problem was I found gyms mind-numbingly boring. With limited direction and zero encouragement I joined others wandering aimlessly from one piece of equipment to the next hoping it was doing some good. The Fitness Club is totally, TOTALLY different. From the moment you join you are treated as a friend, not an inconvenience. I really enjoy my working out sessions, the gym is never crowded, 6 the maximum people you can meet at once, which makes the atmosphere very family-like, Suzy and Dean are always there to help if it’s needed.

  • I first trained with Dean 5 years ago and he helped my lose a great amount of weight and get fit. I kept the weight off for a few years but last year it crept up again. I decided I had to do something about it and I instantly knew who to get in touch with. A personal trainer is no substitute for hard work and discipline, but Dean pushes you beyond your comfort zone so you can get fitter and leaner, something which I couldn't have done by myself. I started training with Dean in january at 99 kilos and 32% body fat and I am now (in june) 80 kilos and 18% body fat.

  • I started training with Dean feeling quite sceptical as I was already reasonably fit and did a fair amount of walking but over the 18 months since Dean’s been my trainer, my overall sense of wellbeing has improved beyond anything I could have contemplated. I feel a sense of vitality and everyone has commented on the improvement in my posture and the "bounce" in my step. I knew that core strength was essential especially for older people and I now no longer need to use my hands to support myself but most importantly, I feel strong and fit. Dean has been incredible, combining encouragement (mostly) with cajoling and enabled me to reach a level of strength that I thought was beyond me. And of course, it isn't the strength that anyone sees but the youthfulness that many younger people do not have. Dean’s training regime has not only strengthened me but improved my shape and helped every aspect of my life and I could not thank him more.

  • The Fitness Club London allows one to truly understand what a good gym actually is. I have been to many gyms over the years and finding one that has a broad range of top quality equipment which is perfectly maintained and clean is hard to come by. If you too are looking for that then this gym is the right gym for you
