Personal Training

Do you want to feel good about your body?

Meet Personal Trainer Dean Schaffer

If you’re looking for a personal trainer that promises a fast route to dropping weight by banning carbohydrates and exercising until the point of exhaustion, then I’m not your guy! Why? Because to me, fitness is a lifestyle, not a fad and I’m trained to look at the long game, not just the short term gain.

Heavily into martial arts – I’m a black belt in Kung-Fu and weight training since a teenager; I’ve always been passionate about fitness. For me, it’s a big part of my life and as founder of The Fitness Club I want to make it a part of your life too.

Big on communication and trust, my friendly but focused training gets anyone hooked. There’s a lot of copycatting in fitness, but I’m a trainer who’s a little bit different. For one, I listen and secondly, I care. I adapt my techniques to create programs around my clients’ needs according to their abilities and goals.

Working both anaerobically (short and fast exercise) and aerobically, I use core, resistance and circuit training to improve and empower their life through exercise. I like seeing my clients happy, and the right program will undoubtedly raise confidence levels, making you look and feel good. My personal mantra is ‘health is wealth’, and I like to think of myself as the backbone that keeps my clients standing up straight and looking to the future.

Working with all ages from 18 to 83, I’m consistently challenging my clients – whether they’re overweight, stressed city suits or post natal mums, and pushing them towards their next goal. I’m always thinking of new ways they can progress. I understand bad days and whatever problem my client has, I have a solution. Ultimately, my personal training sessions are about you, not me. I get enjoyment from seeing results – and that makes me thrive.

What our clients say about us View All

  • The Fitness Club London is the best Gym I have discovered. Being 23 years old and a size 18 is not pleasant. I had lost my confidence and my personality was hidden within me. Having tried 2 personal trainers and kick-boxing classes nothing seemed to motivate me and most importantly understand me. Then one day, after a period of time, I decided I would try again and by chance I had met Dean at the Fitness Club. Dean equals ‘changed my life’. I explained what I wanted to achieve and finally someone understood my goals and the results are fabulous. I am an individual that cannot stand repetitiveness and Deans sessions are always exciting as you just don’t know what to expect apart from one thing, results. But, it is important to remember that results will take effect only if you follow Dean’s advice.

  • I used to have a love-hate relationship with gyms. I knew I should go, I enjoyed the feeling of being fitter and more active, but my problem was I found gyms mind-numbingly boring. With limited direction and zero encouragement I joined others wandering aimlessly from one piece of equipment to the next hoping it was doing some good. The Fitness Club is totally, TOTALLY different. From the moment you join you are treated as a friend, not an inconvenience. I really enjoy my working out sessions, the gym is never crowded, 6 the maximum people you can meet at once, which makes the atmosphere very family-like, Suzy and Dean are always there to help if it’s needed.

  • I am 64 years old and a long distance runner. I know it is important to do weight training and resistance work in addition to the cardio-vascular workout the running gives me, but in the past have found gym workouts to be both tough and tedious. But I am glad to report that the two personal training sessions per week with Dean have proved the opposite. He is good at summing up and providing the essentials you personally need and creates an individualized programme. This programme is challenging but manageable. Dean pays close attention during the training and so helps to prevent injury.

  • When I first started training with Dean I was stuck in a bad cycle (diet, drink, no exercise) and needed a change. I thought all I wanted was a quick fix but my tune changed when I saw that within 10 sessions I went from being able to do 50 pushups to over 240 and lost 3kg (and 2% bodyfat). Best of all I finally got my first pull-up! Dean won’t lie to you about how hard you need to work to succeed, unlike other trainers I’ve been with. He is always upfront yet supportive and willing to take you there if you have the drive. Strength aside, aesthetically I’m so happy with the results, I haven’t been this fit since I was 18 and I can’t wait to continue training. Now it time to throw all those baggy clothes out! Julianna
